FROM PRE-ALGEBRA/CALCULUS TO THE SAT

For more than three decades Lee Academics has offered students from grade school through college a variety of flexible course programs, tutoring, and personal academic counseling.

SAT/ACT Test Prep

In our course, we sharpen the essential reasoning skills that students need to succeed in high school and beyond. We develop their abilities to read passages quickly and efficiently, identifying which parts are most important. We also teach students to approach texts as critics, and not simply passive observers, showing them that understanding what an author is trying to do is only a starting point, and that true comprehension involves being able to identify the author’s successes and failures. We place a heavy emphasis on logic and mathematical reasoning.

Math Tutoring

Math is a language. It’s important to understand foundational concepts fully because more advanced ones build off them. If taught in the correct style at an early age, basic material in middle school can be learned in a manner that will help a student later in calculus. Over three decades, Mamie has developed unique strategies to make difficult math concepts simple and understandable. Mamie adapts her teaching style and pace to fit the needs of students, teaching methods far beyond what can be found in any text book. Much more than math, Mamie’s goal is to teach students to think, reason, and approach math concepts as critics rather than passively memorizing and regurgitating presented material.

College Admissions Counseling

Comprehensive service junior and senior year including help with internship applications, course selection and extracurricular activities advising early in the process, followed by assistance identifying a list of reach, target, and safety schools. Our counselors work closely to help students select insightful essay topics and write the kind of personal narrative colleges appreciate. We provide detailed reviews and edits of personal essays for the common application and the UC application, and up to three additional applications, going through multiple rounds of edits. Our goal is to help students and their parents find a good academic, social, and financial fit for their individual needs.
